8 Surefire Ways to Ruin Your Next  Marathon
START FAST AND "BANK" TIME.   You'll probably die anyway, so putting a few extra minutes in "the bank" in the early miles will pay dividends later on.

AVOID THE EARLY AID STATIONS. This little tactic, like tip #1, will save you a few of those precious seconds at the start which can be banked for later on.

WEAR NEW SHOES.  You want to make sure that you have the maximum cushioning left in your shoes ... and look good in the pictures too.

CRAM ALL THAT MISSED TRAINING INTO THE LAST WEEK. Hey this strategy worked for tests in high school and university ... didn't it???

IGNORE THE WEATHER. Suck it up, ya baby. It's hot for eveyone else too.

VISIT AN ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT PORK RINDS RESTAURANT THE NIGHT BEFORE THE RACE. Hey it's a long way to go, so make sure you have enough calories in the tank - them pork rinds should stick to your ribs.

SKIP BREAKFAST ON RACE MORNING. You'll be too full of pork rinds anyway.

DO AN EXTENDED WARM UP.  You want those muscles loose for that fast start.

Remember these 8 simple tips and you can be almost assured of crashing and burning by Mile 19.
