Do I need a coach?
So you've been running for awhile now, and you're looking to improve to the next level.  You've bought and read a few of the latest and greatest running books, but you feel you need something extra to help you achieve your goals.  Perhaps getting a personal coach is the answer.

If you can answer yes to at least some of the following questions, then getting a coach (either face to face or a cyber coach) may be what you need:

     1. Are you truly serious about improving your performance?  Are willing to commit the time, money, and physical and mental effort needed to improve your performance?
    2. Are you willing to work at a "coaching relationship"?  Are you willing to communicate openly, honestly, and frequently with your coach?
    3. Are you able and willing to give up at least partial control over what you do in training, and when and where you race?  Are you ready to trust another person to make suggestions?
    4. Are you open to constructive criticism of your actions and behaviours?  Are you willing to change behaviors based on constructive feeback?
    5. Are you open to trying new and different things in your training?  Are you ready to learn new things?
    6. Are you ready and willing to follow a set training schedule?  Are you flexibile enough to revise the schedule if need be?
